Shop Window

June 4, 2014 in Uncategorised

‘What’s in the Shop Window’ is our highlight of the week.

Check out this early view of Parramatta View looking south from near the north-eastern corner of Church and George Streets.

The view shows the Scotch Church and the second Parramatta Court House. The walls of the courthouse can still be seen in George Street but George and Church Street certainly have changed since this print was done!

This coloured engraving was printed by Sands and Kenny, Sydney & Melbourne, and Sands & Son, London. This is the 17th imprint c1862.
